Joel,

What the chips do is easy. They modify the shift points (automatics only) for firmer shifts, set a slightly more agressive timing curve, and basically help increase off-idle to a little bit past mid-range performance.

However, the chips don't work too well on the 5.2/5.9's but work excellent on the 3.9's. I've found posts from two 4.7L people...one likes it and the other one doesn't. Can't say anything good or bad about that version.

You will notice a difference after the computer has had a chance to "learn" the altered programming. Don't expect it to give you gobs of HP though..."Chips" can only do so much. Also, if you are running other than stock size injectors or a Mopar PCM, do not bother with the "Chip". They're designed for stock or lightly modified (Headers, Exhaust, Intake System mainly) engines.

Best thing I would say is to try it. If you don't like it, they do have a money back policy.

My buddy and I installed the Mopar PCM's in our 94 V8 Dakotas. His truck had a shift kit, but was able to break his rear end loose on the 1-2 shifts, which it didn't before. My 4x4 Truck has more off the line and highway power now, and I barely touch the gas to maintain 70 mph. The only downside is having to put premium gas in, but we are satisfied with our 5 minute bolt-on's. I can't wait to try the other mods you all have been talking about like the TB Units.
