Subject: Play in Steering Wheel
IP: Logged

Message:
I own two Dodge Trucks, a Dakota and a Durango (both 99's). I rarely drive the Durango --- but they are similar, so here's a DURANGO question. I notice a lot of “play” in the steering wheel, reminiscent of a ’67 Galaxie, when power steering WAS power steering. With the Durango OFF, key out, I notice approx. 1.5 – 2 inches of play in the steering wheel. Does this mean I need some high-price ball joints or some other obscure, expensive part? And, if so, how much we talking about to get this corrected? Also, if I chose to NOT correct this, will I develop some other problem(s)? – Thanks / Jim (99 SLT +, 5.9 – Just hit 68K!)
