Has anyone done this to their 2000 or newer ext cab dakota ? I am looking at doing this but i don't know how much i should order. I'm planning on doing the firewall, floor, rear panels and door panels. I'm planning on doing two layers of B-Quiet Extreme, so how much should i order? Thanks in advance !

Go to your local building supply store and get yourself a roll of "snow and Ice shield" Its a roofing material that has a sticky back...It is the exact same thing as what your gonna buy at 1/4 the price

No, it is not the exact same thing. It's a very good, cheap substitute, but is not the exact same thing. It's great on older cars and your pocket, but there is better. I personally would want to use the best I can on a new truck, why go ghetto and economical on your couple year old truck?

There are a couple of other brands I know of that might interest you, although I am going with B-Quiet's stuff personally.

McMaster Carr has some "hi temp mastic" that is EXACTLY, EXACTLY the same as Dynamat /Original/ and is considerably cheaper. Last time I looked, they were sold out however, I would go with this if they are ever in stock again.

B-Quiet, which you are already familiar with..

www.partsexpress.com has a good cheap alternative that is still better than roofing material.

www.MatrixAudio.com has some, but I don't know anything about them...

A lot of people use GAF StormGuard now as a really cheap alternative, but it is mainly for massing. (what was suggested above)

Dynamat is good stuff, but I do not have the money for that over priced stuff.

I was going to dampen my truck (regular cab 2002), but it's now really cold and I might have to wait :(

Hey this sounds interesting, anything to make my rig quieter would be great. How difficult is it to install these products? Can a do-it-yourselfer do it or do you need an auto mechanic?

An auto mechanic would not be one to do these types of things. The only thing I can suggest is to pick up a shop manual unless you already know how to take out the consoles and door panels. If you need some instructions you can just ask here. It's not very hard once you get all the crap out of it, just takes a lot of patience. To actually put this stuff on is not difficult.

Most of these products are more for massing, or dampening vibrations than blocking out noise, although they do a bit of that too.

Thanks for your response :
I've heard a lot of bad things about that storm guard/Ice guard so i don't think i'm gonna try that. There's also stuff called RAAMat that's pretty cheap (50 sq ft for $55), has anyone used this ? Also, i'm still looking for a estimate on how much i'm gonna need to do the whole interior. Thanks again!

One roll of GAF can do almost 3 cars, and two real well. I know a guy wlho used resin and fiberglass to cover his entire car body, including the roof -- that is cool. Split the cost with someone else, and it'll be even cheaper.
