Subject: Best Tonneau Cover for QC IP: Logged
Message: Since ugly weather has arrived and I'll probably be doing some traveling over the next few months in it, I'm thinking it's time for me to get a tonneau cover for my 2001 QC 4x4. Any reccomendation on brands and what to look for? I like a black vinyl one that is hinged and opens like a car trunk, but can also be removed for tall loads. Suggestions/values? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Message: I got one off ebay... I think the same guy still advertises.. just search for dakota quad cab. I paid $109 for mine, and was amazed at the quality of the cover for that price. If you find him, check out his web site for the hinged models.
Good luck, ed

Message: I have a Gaylords Hard fiberglass lid for my QC. Gaylords fit well, have a low profile and looks great! It does take 2 people to remove for high loads.
However you are probably looking for something like the Checkmate Hinged Soft Cover I've seen a couple of these on RC & CC. They are well built and inexpensive.
Good luck!

Message: I bought the Extang Full Tilt tonneau cover for my Quad. It is exactly what you're looking for. The quality is excellent. Very well made and looks real nice on the truck. Very easy install too. It opens like the "trunk" you're talking about but what I liked best about this particular model is that the whole cover can be EASILY removed by one person to allow for an open bed. The cover comes of in one piece with the vinyl still snapped in place on the frame. I highly recommend it.

Price? Vendor? Website?
Thanks for suggestions guys... Do these clamp in or drill.. I'd like a non-drill for obvious reasons.

Message: Went to buy a CoverMasterand on the way saw a Leer dealer. Stopped and took a look at the Leer 700 series fiberglass tonneau w/ carpet headliner, painted to match factory color, and a quick release system from the rails. Just pull the cotter pins and lift off the truck. Cost is around $700 installed.

Message: Try this website; http://www.accesscover.com/. I have a 01 QC 4X4 FT4WD 4.7L TT LSD 3.92. This cover is easy to remove. It roles up to the cab so that you don't have to actulaly remove it to cary tall loads. It also has several braces in it to keep it from sagging. The braces do NOT drill into the bed.

Message: I just got an A.R.E. LS II fiberglass cover put on my dak. Works great and opens like a "trunk" on a car. No leaking problems yet. I can finally put stuff back there and not take up space in my Cab. You can see pics of my truck and the cover at this address:

Be patient as the pics load.
