Message: Has anyone else had any Battery Problems? I had a battery go bad and was replaced under warranty at about 20,000k mi. Now the new one has lots of corrosion around the terminals. It's a real pretty baby blue color, but I don't think I want it to stay! What's the best way to clean/prevent the problem in the first place? Thanks.

Message: battery terminal washers...they are made of felt (I think). One is usually red and the other is green for the respective positive/negative terminals. I don't know how, but they do a good job of preventing corrosion on the terminals. You should be able to find them at any auto parts store and they are cheap.

Message: make sure you clean the terminals off first with a mixture of baking soda and water. Take an old toothbrush and scrub away.

Message: Dissimiliar metal, and electrochemical corrosion. The battery terminal, and the cable are two different metal types. With the electicity flowing through it for the electrochemical reation, and some moisture is causes corrosion. The color correlates with the type of metal and type of corrosion.
