Message: Hey how cool would it be to install a 727 torque flite transmission on an automatic dakota. I know they are only 3 speeds but these things are really powerful. I probably would never try this but it would be a cool idea what do you guys think?

Message: The 518 or 46re is a 727 with a overdrive addedthe front half is the exact same as a 727.

Message: It's already been done. I know at least two guys that have the 727 with a full manual valve body with the reverse shift pattern. Pretty much a race-only option, but it works. No more missing 3rd gear on the race track!

Message: CW you can't compare a 727 to a A518 or a 46re. If they were the same why is the rams #1 problem is blowing trannys (not talking them down own 2) but a 727 is bullet proof one of the best trannys ever made by mopar or anyone else.

Message: That may be but if you ever had one apart then you would see that it is the same as the 727 up front. Yes I have had a few apart and have seen hundreds apart. BTW the first clutches to usualy to go are the O/D units and things go south from there.
