I had the unfortunate experience of driving thru some very high winds and blowing sand. Bummer is, my windshield appears to have lots of little pits in it now. Paint seems o.k. Is there anything to polish those out?

I doubt it.. but Rain-X is what I'd try.... it can't hurt any. I bet your going to have to replace the glass.

A glass shop can polish it out, however, it usually leaves the glass so that you see double lights at night.

Be careful about putting any cleaning solutions in your windshield washer tank unless you replace the pitted glass first. I had the same problem, and the small amount of cleaner combined with the pits caused foaming the first time I used the fluid/wipers while going down the road. I got Instant , hard to see through SOAP SUDS.

Thanks for the info and cautions. The wipers seem to work fine with the little pits, with no foaming or problems. The damage is only obvious in certain sunlight, and looks like minor road spray. At night, I'm not getting any glaring so guess I'll leave it alone for now. I'll give it a good rubbing with some newspaper and coke (old trick, marginal impact) and stay away from the wind.
