Message: Question for all you guys that have had HVAC issues.
I have a 99 5.2l cc w/75,000m and I have had big (not too excessive)puddles under the truck coming from the drain tube for ever. It seems like it is more than it should be especailly since I dont run the AC often (live in Maine). I also noticed that my coolant was disappearing.
I have not had any fluid inside the truck yet. But is this an idicator that anyone had before the system sh!t the bed. If so is there anything I should do now to resolve it? The tube seems to be draining fine so I don't think it is cloging. Is it safe to say as long as that is draining that I wont have any "major" issues.

Message: Also what did you use to clean the drain?
Did you just flush the fluid mix thru the system? Was gravity enough pressure to flush the system or did you have to force it thru?
Thanks

Message: Bill,
I would not worry about it for now. Water under the car no matter how much, it just fine that is your air conditioning draining properly. Usually it will be the seal around the drain plug that goes, but you can fix for 50 cents with a L-shape tube from Home Depot. The coolant disappearing I am not sure about, but it could be valve, water with dish detergent may solve that problem. What makes you think its disappearing anyway?

Message: Thanks Claude
I though that I would only have moisture from the AC when it was running. Is that incorrect?
As far as the Coolant issue goes. It seems like I'm having to put coolant(or Water) in all the time. I have not done a usage/mile but I didn't think I needed to refill the coolant on such short intervals. Is there a test to see if the puddles have coolant in them? I have several pets and dont want them to get into it if it is coolant.
