 Subject: Light in center (floor) console?

Just took delivery on my 2002 QC Slt-plus. The manual indicates that there is a light in the floor console which comes on when you open the lid. I can't find it anywhere, no bulb, nothing. Anyone else get one??? Did they just "forget" to install it? Thanks

I don't know about the 02 but my 01 doesn't have a light in the center console.

Picked up my Quad Cab on Friday and also read in the manual about the center console having a light, but can't find it.

My 01 QC does have a light in the center console. Comes on when the lid is opened. It is nice to have. Don't know why yours doesn't have it. I have the SLT Plus.

Well the manual definitely says that it's supposed to be there! Sure would be nice as I can't see a thing in the bottom of the console especially at night!
OK - how about the plastic liner (black) insert for the uppermost compartment on the front of the console....do you have one? The next one down has a removable plastic liner, but there isn't one on the top one??? I recall that the 01' had one but my 02 does not.

My wife has a 02 Qc slt plus. No light in the console. i have a 02 cc slt plus no light in my console either. I 'll call my sales man and ask about this. Maybe Dodge got rid of this and forgot to remove it from the manual? Also, there is no removable liner in my upper compartment.

The console light, underhood light and underhood insulation were all deleted mid year of the '01 model year. Somewhere around Feb. of this year they stopped installing those. Same deal on the Durangos.
The console light would be nice, but I can't believe they save a few bucks and took out the underhood light. That should be considered a necessity.

Unbelieveable, how much could DC really be saving by deleting these things? It has to be less than $100. On an SLT-plus pedigree they should offer the little "extras" that make it a plus.

Yep, the salesman said no light. Someone should tell D/c to delete it out of the owners manual. In addition to missing the underhood light, I also miss the light on the ignition.

The guy who designed the radiator shroud on the 01' and up dakotas got a engineering award for saving $1.50 per unit. They are really concerned with cost I guess.
