Subject: dealer sucks!!!! IP: Logged
Message: I ordered my truck on 10/12 and joined Farm Bureau the same day. My salesman told me that my anniversary day would be 11/12. On 11/13, they called me to come in and pick up my truck. I talked to both the salesman and manager to confirm my farm bureau qualification. When I got there, they told me the anniversary day is the 18th(Sunday). So I took hald day off for NOTHING.
On the 19th, I took another day off to pick up my truck. First the dealer tried to add $510 to the sale price, but was caught by me. I let them reprep the paper work and sign the contract.
Then I asked them again whether my $400 graduate student rebate was ok? I asked this when I placed the order to three different persons(salesman, sales manager, finance manager), they all said "no problem" You will get both rebate($900 combined).
Then yesterday, two days after the delivery, I was going to leave for thanksgiving. THey called me and said my deal was bounced back from Chrysler. Farm Bureau and gruaduate student rebate are not compatible. I was so pissed. They'd been in the busness so many years, and known to be NO.1 dodge dealer in my area. They don't know how the rebate thing work??????
They want to to come in redo the paper work!!
What am I supposed to do folks???

Message: I would tell them to shove it. They said it would work, you signed the papers that they prepped. Tell them to eat the loss and to be accept this as a learning experience.
A contract is a contract once it is signed, and is legally binding. You are driving the truck I assume. Possession is nine tenths, and the signed contract is the other tenth.
Dodge makes good vehicles, but I have to admit, the salesmen (this includes new cars, used cars, and repair) are all D!CK$!!!! Treat them like they treat you and make them suck down some of thier own medicine.
I have had to call regional DC reps before because some of the unethical crap they do. When words come out of someones mouth, they should stick with it.
Just wait till you go in for warranty repairs! They will try to talk you into fixing everything except what you brought it in for. And they will keep it for 2 weeks while waiting on a part, but you cannot get a rental because thier books state there is only an hour worth of labor.
Good Luck!

Message: DO NOT redo the contract papers!! Call both Farm Bureau and Chrysler and let them know what this dealer is pulling. Keep calling until YOU are satisfied. Like Jason stated, the dealer said it would work, made up the contract that stated it, you signed and they signed it, it's a done deal. The only way I could see them having a leg to stand on is if you knowingly lied.

Message: Do you think they would be calling you if you overpaid them? No, I'm sure they would say a contract is a contract, its gone to Chrysler now, there is nothing we can do. I think I would call the salesman and tell him, sorry for his loss, do you think you could give me a couple of free oil changes?

Message: Actually, the dealer first tried to offer me "a few free oil change" for the $400 rebate they screwed up on me. But I said "no way", plus, I always do oil change by myself. That is not an option. To get this thing done asap, I gave them a way to make it up.
I was planning to paint the front bumper conver to a "R/T" bumper. My sport plus' has a black strip, which I really hate. I asked them to get me a R/T bumper cover or repaint my to match,
then I will redo the paper work. In other words, I am going to pay $400 for a R/T bumper cover. The salesman promised to "work sth out", I will see what they come up with. This is kind of compromise for both sides. I am sure they don't have to pay $400 to get that done. Maybe $100 for them.

Message: My dodge dealer sucks too -- Century III Dodge (supposed to be a 5-star dealer too) in Pittsburgh, PA. I work at Kenny Ross Ford South and I'll be honest with you, they treat customers there with respect.
I noticed a mark on my truck's hood (paint chip from a rock or something -- I guess from transport) and mentioned it to my salesperson. He said they'd fix it. When I took delivery, I didn't notice it. Then, a day or two later, I guess the black magic marker they "repaired" it with wore off. They say they can't fix it because it could have happened after I drove it off the lot.
I'm happy with the truck though -- I'm not going to let a paint chip and a moron-of-a dealer ruin my Dakota.
