I ordered a Dakota today, and am praying that it is finished before 4/03 when the rebates are over. My dealer insists that you cannot lock. However, I spoke to another dealer who said he would guarantee that the rebate would apply. At least one or two other listers have said the same. Is my dealer screwing me, or is he just not doing all he can? Perhaps guaranteeing requires some unethical measures? What are you guys getting?

MY dealer said,"there will be no problem " with getting the rebates. The dealer ordered it on Feb. 14, got the V.O.N. & part of the V.I.N by the the 19th. They also said, ship date should be March 8th. So I should get it by about 18th. It should be in in plenty of time to take advantage of the rebates offered.
Soon to be 2001 Dakota Sport, 4.7L ,Auto, Loaded

Yep ... same story here ... I placed the order on Feb 14 and the dealer called and said the ship date is March 6. I think you should be alright with your order.
Hell, the truck's coming in faster than some of my accessories that I ordered for it! haha

I am glad to learn this. I am trying to work out the final price on a 01 Dak this week with a few dealers. I am really depending on getting the $2k. I have not come across any dealer that would guarantee the rebate however. Dont know if they are truthful about it or not.

Okay, so it sounds like you are getting delivery dates in the 4-week range. That's fine. I hope mine is just as good. I just over five weeks, so I should also be fine.
I do want to point out though, that the dealer didn't guarantee any rebates, he simply stated to you that the delivery would fall within the rebate period. This must be the truth then, that they do not guarantee the rebate. It is a non-issue if it is delivered in time though. I, like Greg, am counting on it, and I'm also getting the $500 Farm Bureau rebate.
Greg, I got invoice for my truck order. Just showed them the number of dealers offering such over the internet. Course they are likely screwing me on my trade-in, but I may sell it outright.

I just ordered a 2001 4X4 Quad Cab on Saturday 2/17/01. The dealer told me it would be in in about six weeks but he did guarantee the rebates ($2000 + $500 Farm Bureau). They calculated the bottom dollar minus trade-in and rebates and that's the deal we agreed to. Another dealer first told me they couldn't lock them in but after further questioning (like how can I make a decision if they can't guarantee the rebate) they too said they could lock them in and honor any increase in rebates that occur before delivery.
Keep'm honest.

I ordered my QC 4x4 today (March 10th) so it's a mighty slim chance I could take delivery before 4/3! The dealer here in Orlando committed (in writing)to a final price that included the $2K rebate, so I'm satisfied.
