Subject: What size jack stands IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 DAK CC which i found weighs ~4850 (havent checked the door label yet- internet stats here) Does that mean I need 3 ton stands or do I 'assume' the weight is distributed and go with 2 ton stands.... Plus I might someday upgrade to a full size again.. maybe 5500 lbs. there

Hmmm a DAK weights more than a Chevy 1500.. makes ya wonder..POWER = WEIGHT!!!

Message: just get (2) 2 1/4 ton jack stands or 4 if you want all wheels off the ground, always use two weather it's 2 in front 2 in rear or both on one side you dont want the vehicle to teader-touder (spelling??)and about the weight; if you put (2) 2 1/4 ton stands in the front or wherever, some weight will shift to the tires that are on the ground, not only that but even if it took the weight evenly @ 5000 lbs, 2 stand would only be supporting 2500 lbs and w/ 2 stands you have the compacity to hold 4500lbs. you should be fine, can someone back me up on this or please correct me

Message: I bought the deal at Sears recently with a 3 1/2 ton floor jack and two 3 ton stands for $99, a great deal.
