I must be missing something. I purchased an extra remote keyless entry, off of ebay for a couple of bucks, $4. All the part #'s match my current working remote. I figure I get this for a spare. I tried to program it accroding to the book, no good. What the heck am I doing wrong. I tested batteries, they are fine. It seemed like a simple procedure.UUUUGGGGHHHH!!!!!

Had the same problem, including trying to de activate the horn when locking the truck.
Dealer did both for me no charge.

When I had it at the dealer for an oil change, they programmed it thier for free. I actually told him it came with the truck when I bought it their, but did not work, otherwise $$$$$.

Did you hear the "beep" when you deprogrammed it? It takes a fine touch to get that Unlock (4 seconds) Panic, and release both. If you don't hear a beep after doing that, you're not doing anything at all. After that hit lock+unlock at the same time, then any button.
BTW, how much do ya'll pay for those transmitters on ebay?

I just bought a 1999 Dakota. It only came with one remote. I found a procedure here for the 2000 remote. Is the process the same for the 1999??

I bought a 1999 Dodge Dakota recently and the remote won't work. I put new batteries in and still nothing. Any ideas how to program the original? it only came with the one remote. Thanks!

You can always go to the Dealer but that wouldn't be to smart sence they can charge 3 times what it's worth.
