Subject: Stripped Headlight Adjusters IP: Logged
Message: I got my 99 Dak 4X4 in January and noticed the lights were pointing down... No big deal.. took it to the dealership that I bought it. The previous owner had put on a bug deflector and it is attatched REAL GOOD and makes it almost impossible to get the the adjuster screws..
Worst part is that the screw is already stripped out..,..
How can I get them to replace the screw and/or headlight assembly..I think they said it was like 185 $$$$ to replace the whole thing and they couldnt get screws..BS. It is broke and was that way when I got it...I want it fixed...
Thanks for any help,
Bob

Message: Yea, there not made of the best metal either, kinda soft. Mine are stripped out to and they cant get the individual screw to replace them, have to order the whole light assembly (kinda stupid for 2 screws). I took my Dremel and cut a notch on top of each screw so now a can use a flathead screwdriver to adjust.

Message: I eneded up pulling the screw out all together! Getting the ball (head) of the screw back in was a pain, had to put a little oil on top so it would slide(pop) back between those 2 plastic tabs. These headlight assemblies on these trucks have to be the biggest P.I.T.A on these trucks, I think.

Message: Same thing happened to me . Just search ebay for a replacement light. It may take a while, but I got a whole headlight assembly for $30.

Message: Wait a minute... they can take the assembly out... then I could groove the stripped out screws and make em into a flat screw... hmmm might have to take my dak and my dremel to my dealer
THANKS!!! I never thought about it like that. one headlight is fine. the other points almost too far down to see it while driving... (useless light)
Until I can get the assembly from ebay or Junkyard -depending on cost$$$
Thanks for all the input all!!
This place rocks!
