Subject: Extended Warranty Concerns IP: Logged
Message: I got my 99 DAK 4X4 EC Sport in January 2001 after rolling my 2000 SLT EC(pretty Green with chrome...) I opted for the Extended warranty since I drive ~30 miles to work every day one way. At a cost of ~$1000 to be rolled into financing of vehicle.
I was cleaning my files up and noticed the DCX Ext warranty paperwork. Says start date is 5-99 and end date is 5-04. I had already lost 2 yrs on my 5 yr warranty when I bought it???
I webt with this cause it covered up to 100,000 or 5 yrs. Figured I would have coverage until it was paid off... What should I do?? Go to dealer and question it, or call DCX asking WTF?
I always thought warranty started from when you bought it, not original mfg date... The prorated (fine) cancellation goes from $50 to $150 if the warranty is applied after 12 months.. (What a crock!!!)
HELP!!!!!
Thanks for any help,
Bob

Message: 1000 bux sounds kinda cheap for a 5 yr. What you prolly purchased was a 2 year extention to tack onto the original 3 yr...but I would question them anyway.

Message: You probably were sold a "bumper to bumper" warranty rather than what is called a "used term" policy. Most bumper to bumper or "new term " warrantys use the factory in service date for start mileage. Yes, you do lose the 3/36 but that is the price you pay to get that kind of coverage. It has it's benifits such as usually the used terms may not cover seals and gaskets
(can be a biggie) and there is usually more coverage, like audio etc.
P.S. make sure you keep maintenance records
