What's up everybody. I just got a 2000 Dakota V6 xtra cab. What are my options for new speakers? The stock ones are ok, but I need something better. I still want to use my back seat for passengers. Also, I'm not into that bumping sh*t. Thanks for any input.

Your prolly better off asking this question in the custom audio section.

What i did was add an MTX thunderform box which takes the place of the underseat tool box thingy...it has 2 10" woofers...not bad if your not a "thumper"...I also put Rockford Fosgate 6 1/2" door and rear speakers in..Im not totally satisfied with these...they are definitley better than stock, but not exactley what I was looking for. I think Im gonna start looking for a set of comp. speakers for the front.(Seperate tweeter and mid)

Good luck

Go component. The factory front speaker location is real low and all of your highs and mids will get muffled out by the seats and passenger legs. Don't worry about the back speakers until you get the front ones taken car of.

And visit the audio section, you will find a lot of helpfull hints.

In my '01 Dakota CC I installed a thunderform and front/rear ADS 336im speakers. Head unit is a Alpine CDA-7977. For the front/rear speakers I have a Fosgate Power Series 400.4 and for the thunderform I have a MTX 6500D amp.

I am VERY satisfied with my system. The only visible sign that anything was done to my stereo system is the head unit. Everything else is completely hidden.

The system isn't going to win any bass thumper contest, but I don't give a damn about that. When compared to most systems, my system completely eclipses them on sound clarity and accurate recreation of the music. If it is just a bunch of bass and highs that you are looking for, you can get off much much cheaper than I did, so your goals and desired result should be carefully considered when designing your system.
