Message: I have the factory security alarm and will add the motion sensor from mopar accessories, when money gets better, easy way to go. Thought people should know it exists. It goes off, if the hood is opened, the door or if there is to much vibration like breaking a window.

Message: Rattlers are "OK", but for the money I would go with a Viper from Circuit City...

Message: Never heard of Rattler Alarm Systems before, maybe it is a division of Viper Alarms? Either way, make sure the system allows protection for multiple entry points without costly add-ons or external relays to do so(some installs will require extra relays regardless of "on-board" relays, especially for factory keyless entry integration where the installer will often need to destroy one of your factory remotes by taking it apart to set-up the new alarm). Current sensing works well(if your battery is in good health) and is easiest to install while being nice to your wallet for labor/material costs. Hard wiring pins or sensors at each entry point are more reliable, but can become costly if you are on a budget. Perimeter alarms or external motion detectors can be expensive and a pain in the ^%$ if someone parks within the field of protection, or you park to close to an object, alarm will continually go off and reset it self until your battery is dead or someone calls the police due to noise disturbance:( Vehicle Impact or Motion Sensors that detect vehicle vibration or movement are the most effective and if set properly are the most public friendly way of scaring off the bad guys who want to steal our hard-earned money. Alotta times, the simple blinking LED mounted in plain sight is enough to keep the average thief at bay, on the other hand, a "professional" will only delight in your blinking LED at the challange of how fast the alarm can be disarmed before theft of your property. I am almost outta breath...Hope this long response is helpful in some way:)

Message: Rattler and Viper are both made from the same company called DEI (Directed Electronics Incorporated).
I have the rattler in my 01 Dakota. It works great. Make sure they cut the black wire that makes the alarm 17 decibels higher (they'll know what you mean).
Just so you know, I have no "costly add-on sensors" and my alarm goes off if I kick a tire, tap the front end of the truck with my finger, and even if I open the tailgate (gets annoying when I try to get something out of it at 1 in the morning and didn't bring my keys -- the neighbors like that). Just turn the sensitivity control up a little higher than factory.
I've had mine in for 5 months now and I think it was $200 well spent.
