Subject: Vibration GenII V8

My 95 2wd V8 club cab has (since new) a vibration that starts about 32mph and stops at about 42mph. Wheels have been checked for runout, had multiple balances, etc. I am thinking it is in the drive train but dealer is reluctant to tear it down and check everything. My previous 90Dak did the same thing. Lately it is getting bad enough to be irritating. Next effort is to get the drive shaft balanced. Any others out there with hard to cure vibrations? I have 3000 miles left on the extended warranty.

I have had the same problem since I bought mine.But it does it between 60 and 65. I replaced the tranny mount,the yokefrom the transfer case,a new drive shaft,different wheels, new tires,upper and lower ball joints still no luck. I am at a loss as to what is causing it.I know this does'nt help you but maybe someone else can give us an idea.

I had the same problem. My factory u-joints decided to leave the diff yoke. This caused of course the drive shaft to drop. So I replaced the 3 u-joints with greasable ones and put it back on. Two months later cruising at 70 MPH, I get a vibration. This happened within a week of getting new tires, so back to the shop to check for out of round tires. Nope. So now I get it up on rack and with the engine in gear I notice that the front shaft is out of round.
Well I take it to a driveline shop. He ends up retubing it and replacing the carrier bearing. I put it back on and the vibration stopped. This cost me about $200 but that's cheaper than dealer and if you try like I did and look for one at the junkyards, you'll not get a good one as the one you have now.

Thanx, Duke. I am gong to get the drive shaft looked at soon. It has to be after the tranny as the vibration is at the same speed range regardless of gear, Ovewrdrive on or off, engine RPM, etc. If if isn't the drive shaft, it has to be the rear end.

It was the front tube out of round, but obviously not as bad as Dukes. Only cost $97 to have the drive shaft removed, balanced, and re-installed.
