I lost one of my keys to my 2001 QC. I don't want to go to the stealership because they will charge an arm and a leg.
Do these keys have some type of security chip?? Do I have to purchase from the stealer?

I bought mine off ebay, there is a guy on there that sells them. I got two for $6.00 each! Same as the ones that came with my truck, but they have a ram's head on them. Great deal.

I had an extra key made and put it under my bed mat in case I locked my keys in the truck. Just a regular locksmith made the copy. Lesley, do you still have the ID of the guy that had rams head blanks?

If you have the key with the security chip ,(SKIM), in it then it will be a round grey key with a large rams head on it. If this is it then the dealer is the only place to get a new one and it has to be programed as well or it will not work. If it is the standard key then you have nothing to worry about. The Skim key is quite expencive as well.
