Message: We are working on pricing now. All I an say is it wont be the most expensive out there. BUT it wont be cheap, this is because of a few factors.. We use the best grade glass, resin, and each hood is hand layed each one takes a full day to do. Also the fiberglass is thick, and the steel reinforceing is well done so that the hood wont flex, warp, etc..like other lower priced hoods. The hood is completely finished both outside and inside(smooth inner panel). The fitment is also aimed to be better then any other hood available. And last but not least it is a completely new design and actually functions.
So if you are looking based on price this is not the hood for you, if you want what we consider the best looking, most functional, and best built hood, then it is!

Message: Bernd or Red,
Major question?????
Is the hood going to certified for us dumb folks
who live in an area that requires EPA compliance
checks. Such as CARB approval for 50 States??
So that we can legally use it.Some of these laws
are stoopid (only legal air intake factory or CARB
approved).

Message: Just a hood doesn't require any certification (CARB/EO). If the airbox is to be used, well...if someone wants to give us $10,000 for the CARB certification, we'll do it. Otherwise, nope, it's not certified. (Neither are any of the other hoods out there.)

Will the functional airbox be available for the V6 too? I have looked at Ram-Air hoods before, but they were all only FUNCTIONAL for the V8 applications. Also, if it is available for us V6 guys, how would this typr of setup be comperable to say the IP Stage III intake? Thanks.

Message: Yes, the hood uses the everything from your truck and stock hood (latch, hindges, etc). And it mounts up just like a factory one would.
One of the production hood prototypes is being sent out to California to Flometrics Enginerring for flow data testing as well as a few other tests.
Other hoods are being sent to a very few and specific testers to have them checked and tested in 1/4 and modified dyno tests. So for right now we have no hard data, just calculated estimates, but Ill refrain from making those public and just wait unitl we have verified data.

The hood will be sold with a airbox of its own and you will just replace the stock setup you have, there is nothing for you do do but bolt it on, it already functions and breaths properly.

Message: A spot for the rams head emblem is not made into the hood. The majority of people do not want them on there, plus it would interfer with air flow, create drag, have the wrong angle, and might look funny. BUT like most things people get for their dakotas go ahead and carve in your own fitting and mount the emblem on the hood...shouldnt be that hard...and may look really cool..

Message: Well, on a custom hood there are generally not emblems (in fact non of them except the reflection, which is steel (right). There wasnt a poll for it..
The way the hood is made the emblem would not fit nor sit right on it in the stock area. The emblem is slightly concaved and the airintake is more flat. If we put it on then everyone who buys the hood HAS to have it on, while if we dont and someone wants it, they can have their body shop drill and mount it in.

That would be a big problem as what would happen if you (or a body shop) messed up the scoop...let alone the factory hood. I'm also working on getting a remote "warehouse" in Canada for our friends up north. We're checking the shipping rates within Canada as well as a few other items.
We aren't doing Mach-1? Hehehehe..speak for yourself. ;)

Message: I must first admit that I am not too up to speed on the inner workings of this ram air system, other than the obvious aspects of it.
Just one question about the functionality of these hoods... If you are cruising at highway speeds and it’s raining cats & dogs - is there a chance that water will be 'rammed' into your intake along with the air?
Is this not a bad thing?
Comments, suggestions….

| RE: See the NEW RAM-AIR HOOD!!! IP: Logged
Message: Actually the way that the ram-air box is designed the water will not be able to get anywhere near the TB unless you take a fire hose and shoot it directly into the opening. Even then the water would have to make it through the K&N air filter at which time it would be vaporized and then would still have to get sucked into the TB. WE will be doing testing on this to make sure it is not a problem before the release.
On a side note, water is not necessarly bad, ever head of H2O injection??? (ha)
The design should eliminate any chance of this happening but Bernd, can you expand on the effects of water if it did get that far, and how much it would take to be harmful?

Message: Unless you're literally dumping water into the scoop (or have experienced Houston rain storm - where you really shouldn't be on the roads anyway), there's nothing to worry about as the K&N filter will keep most of the water out anyway. (Even if some gets on the filter, it'll vaporize on its way down the intake.)
If it's really raining that bad...you shouldn't be on the roads for your own safety.
