Message: Bill I would say either 3:55 or 3:92 would work with a light load like a dirt bike or quad. I pull a 1400 lb boat with 3:55 and I cant hardly notice its back there.3:92 are for pulling or hauling heavy loads or more redlight to redlight power. But your gas mileage will drop a little. You just have to figure out what type of driving you are going to do.I would recommend trac lock rear end it only costs 330.00 canadian (5.50 american) and It makes a big diff in your traction. With the 4.7 and 4x4 and a tracloc rear end it pulls like a john deer!

Message: Now that's one of the best money saving tips I have heard in awhile, wonder if you can use that in conjunction with the friends of the family discount? My wife needs a new Dak and the finance rates/extended warranty are looking pretty darn good to see a shiny new 4x4 in our driveway next to mine that is only 4 months old!

Message: Trust me towing is not going to be a problem. I tow my volkswagen all the time, 1800 lbs. It will do just fine. The first time I thought I would have problems because of the manual tranny. Nope not at all.

Message: I pull a boat with my 3.55's. It even makes the hill going to Meritt Resevoir from the sandhills lakes from a dead stop. I don't think you will have a problem and as swampdak states, there is a MPG issue. Comments on smoother shifting(less jerky) would lend me to think the 3.55 gears is an attractive decision. (If you don't want to be a riceaterthatis?) If you wear a straw hat, wear bib overalls and chew on a hunk of tabaker,(spit a little and try to hit a bug, ant or something crawling around the lot, I hit a cricket! Whee I thought $500.00 discount) I think you would qualify for Farm Bureau discount without the $50.00 Fee. BUT, If you don't have the membership papers SOL. I wish I would have seen a post like Bill in NY before I bought mine. Hey Bill, thats like finding 450.00. Good Advice. If I would have seen this and used your advice I'd split the profit with you !!! Yeah thats it! Yeah I'd split the pofit, Thats the ticket. Good Luck yamaracer5.

Message: Is Trac Loc a factory Option or aftermarket? If aftermarket, where could I find it easiest? I could use something like that myself on my 01 4.7 Dak with 3.55's. I know you can get limited slip diff, I bought my Dak off the dealer's lot and they did not have any with limited slip option. And I am going to check on that Farm Bureau Discount today, Mo Money in My Pocket!

Message: "trac loc "is available as a option with dodge trucks , it is a brand name for this paticular type of limited slip. There are many types of limited slip ford uses "Traction lock" GM use "Posi trac" They are all very similar. I am afraid you will find it quite expensive to have a trac-loc installed after market , the best time is when you order your truck. There will probably not be a trac loc unit sitting on the lot as most people do not think to ask for it.
