Subject: Hughes Engines plenum pan reinforcement. IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone out there tried out the plenum pan reinforcement from Huges Engines www.hughesengines.com (part # 7706)? I have had the pan go out twice on my '98 5.2L and I have only put about 8,000 miles of the 86,000 on the engine. Bought it used from the dealer and they fixed it the first time because I caught it right away. That was about 5 months ago. I have read about using The Right Stuff and was planning on it for this fix. Just wondered if this kit would help. Thanks,
Shawn

Message: Buy a M-1 intake and there is no plenum to worry about. Nice kick in the a$$ for HP as well from what I read.

Message: I agree. Get the 2bbl M1 intake manifold, and never worry about the plenum gasket again, and gain a whole lotta upper RPM power.

Message: does this plenum gasket cause the truck to burn oil and cause a ticking sound upon acceleration.

Message: If the belly pan gasket is blown or leaking...yup, excessive oil consumption and "pinging" on acceleration.
Too bad Hughes isn't making the billet version (we've got it in development with Flometrics). ;)
