I hope the new Dak models look a lot more like the Gen2 than the Gen3. The Gen1 and Gen2 had style and class. Let the RAM have the Gen3 look, for those that need that.

if you go to your dodge dealership they offer a new package that's not advertised which is the "SXT" model. it looks like the RT, but looks are decieving. if you don' beleive me just call them up and ask about it. i've seen four of them it person. i'm not trying to sound like a know it all, but alot of people hve never herd of it. and i've never seen an advertisment on it either. so if anyone else has seen one let me know please, because it's making me think i'm loosing my mind. lol

I asked my dealer, and the SXT model is aimed at kids... suposedly it's between the sport and base line, and it come with graphite-like color grill and rocker moldings and CD player and buckets standard.. I think Chrysler is doing this across the board... ex: Jeep Wrangler X, Jeep Wrangler with I-6, CD player and nice wheels.... Less expensive than the sport...

So you don't think you are crazy, the new Dakota Brochure and general Dodge Brochure show the SXT. It looks to me like they are trying to find a way to use up the parts bin of the base truck before the Dakota gets a makeover. Kinda like the America series on various cars over the years.

Anyone know where to get pics of the new dak? I suer hope they put that 5.7 hemi in it :-)

I thought they were changing the look for 03. Sorry, but can't remember the site I read that at (can't believe everything you read on the internet though, right?). I also read rumors (from the same sight) about a 03 Ram-based, full-size SUV.

The SXT is definitely out there, in fact I have a Flame Red 2002 model parked in the garage. I read too that it's got the goodies that "the kids" will like -- the grill and wheel flares, CD player, bucket seats, and P255 tires on aluminum wheels. Not a whole lot else on it, but it looks sharp.
At 39 I guess it's good to know I'm still "a kid".

I will trade my 98 5.2 when they make a dramatic change in the styling and engines again. I hope they build a factory hemi for the Daks like when they built muscle cars.
