Anyone just running strait pipes from cat with no muffler?
I heard a guy the other day with this, sounded awesome, but was very loud!
Any suggestions if this is good or bad?
Thanks very much

Yeah I was gettin a flowmaster put on my R/T the other day and some dude started his Chevy up and it sounded kick ass and I asked em what he did and he said he just left the muffler off. I had no idea you could do that.

Summit sells a pipe which looks like a "y" that you can put on just before the muffler. It links the cat to the muffler, but has another one which free flows out just before the muffler. It has a plate that can be switched back and forth that either lets it flow into the muffler and not out the other, like normal, or the other way around which makes a hell of a lot of noise. Ive seen some, mostly on muscle cars, that have this and can control the valve from inside the car using selenoids. The alternative is to get underneath and switch it when you want. But how sweet would it be to be sitting at a light and as some other dakota rolls up you switch to the free flow and rev the hell out of it !!!

I have an old Ford truck and ran it without any pipes, just out of the headers and it had no power. I just added a dual glass pack system and it ran much better.

With out mufflers you may even trip your check engine light.
