Subject: found the squeaky dash IP: Logged
Message: I posted a problem back on 10/29 about a dash that sqeaked in a 2001 QC after reading some of your feed back.Wilk2855 said it may be the steering column and the dealer had his replaced no more squeak. Well it is a long drive for me to the dealership so I ripped the dash apart several times myself. I tightened every screw i could find lubed any metal to metal contact and even dropped the steering column lubed it tightened it still nothing.
AHHH the obvious I took some wd-40 and sprayed where the steering column goes through the fire wall in the engine compartment and all the linkages. For 2 weeks now no more squeaks.

Message: WD40 is mostly solvent, very little lubricant, so the fix is temporary. Get some silicone spray.

Message: Graig, good to hear you found the squeak. Sounds like my dealer made a couple of bucks from Chrysler by changing out parts in the the steering and got lucky with fixing the squeak. The owner of my dealearship also drives a quad cab and his developed a squeak shortly after they fixed mine. They also worked on his steering to fix the squeak.
