Subject: Ummm where they go?! IP: Logged
Message: On my new 2001 V8 4.7L Dakota Sport, the RPM gage is missing the red lines. Is this normal or did DC just find another way to make some extra money in the newer models?! Also, didnt Dakotas have numbers on the oil gages and stuff before?

Message: I think there is a rev limiter after the 7, so a redline wouldn't make much sence then would it? I havn't taken mine that far being as how it's a new truck, but I think I saw something about this in another post not too long ago.

Message: It doesn't need a redline. The stock 4.7 will quit making hp after 5500 rpm and the rev-limiter will hit at 6000 rpm. Anybody that's gonna rev the engine to 6000 wouldn't pay any attention the the lines even if it had them! (I speak from experience) hehehe How else is a guy supposed to find out where the rev-limiter is?

Message: My 2000 has the 7000 rpm tach. Yellow range is from 5500-6000 and red is from 6000 on up. At full throttle mine shifts right at 5500 every time.
