Message: If I put on a 180 degree thermostat on my truck w/ the stock computer chip still in...will the truck computer still think it has the stock 195 degree thermostat in it and mess things up?

Message: No.
The computer doesn't open the T-stat, it will just think the engine is running cool. If you were to use the 160 model there might be a chance of some problems.

Message: Yeah I heard about that w/ the 160 Tstat...just wondering if the 180 would affect the computer...but I thought the computer would be set to keep the temp at a certain level and if U changed that it would constantly be trying to keep the engine at 195 but but the 180 keeps it from reaching that high. Maybe I'm wrong.
What brand of Tstat would U recommend.
Also I'm thinking about putting on headers...what brand is the best?
Thanks

Message: Tstats are mechanical. No computer regulates the open or closed condition. There's a sensor on the tstat that opens the spring to allow coolant to flow through.
Robertshaw GT-755-180 was the one that I used. They can be found at any autozone across the country.
Can't find an autozone close?
