Subject: Trailer Hitch IP: Logged
Message: I am in the process of choosing options to be factory installed on my new Dak and cant decide if I should order the trailer hitch and wire harness or simply wait until after I get the truck and have it installed later. Any suggestios? If I opt to have it installed later are there certain brands/types that seem to be prefered or are they all about the same? Thanks

Message: Order it with it installed, it will be covered by the warranty and you aren't paying for labor. I had a Draw-Tite installed for just under $200.

Message: I went to j c whitney and got a hidden hitch
it was a direct bolt on (no holes to drill)fit
right on my 2000 dak it was a class IV.
wiring harness cost about $30 and it was an
inline plug in. Of course you'll need tow bar and ball but my total cost was about $160 and about
1 hour total install time. The only thing that shows from the back of truck is receiver.

Message: I also have a Hidden Hitch and they work pretty good and you can not see anything but the receiver as Dak 2 says.

Message: I purchased a brand new receiver hitch and have never installed it. I have all the parts and accesories if you would like to buy it. I'll sell it for $110, buyer pays shipping. I tow with my other car instead, bigger motor. You can e-mail me if interested. jonmccuskey@yahoo.com

Message: Get the hitch from the factory. The money you spend to do it yourself is about the same if you consider the time (and how much your time is worth to you) if you did it yourself.

Message: It is not hard at all to put on a hitch, you can also buy the wiring specificly for your truck and thats a 5 minute job...if you like to work on your own truck then buy it yourself, if not, buy your truck with it installed...
