I believe 1987 was the first model year for the Dakota's.

Yes the 87' was the first model year. There was an option of 2.4L V4 or a 3.9L V6. Standard cab only. 2wd and 4x4 avaliable. This Dak is known as Gen I. 1897 to 1990. In 1990, the club cab started. In 1991, the 5.2L joined the club. In 1992, the Magnum engines started. Horse Power increased greatly over the old engines. Gen II was from 1991 until 1996 (?) I believe. Gen III is from then until now.
Does anyone know about a new Gen IV Dak? Is it in the books for the next few coming years, or what?
