Yes, you should have got it if you have an SLT. This is standard equipment on an SLT, and not available on a Sport. I would definitely go ask the dealer to have one put on, if you do have an SLT. Check on www.4adodge.com and make sure it is standard, before going and looking stupid. It is as far as know, but they (Dodge) may have made it standard on an SLT+, or optional. Who knows!!!

Glynn,
It is not available on a Sport. You should not have one on your truck.

I have a 01 SLT Plus Reg Cab. I got everything on this truck besides the leather seats and heated, folding mirrors...and I have no insulation under my hood. What good is it anyway -- I figure heat can escape better now anyway...just my uneducated guess.

Obviously it can't make that much of a difference and if sports don't come with it, it can't hurt anything.

Guys

The hood pads are usually put there to cut down on engine noise, I read somewhere else that Dodge cut them mid year to save some bucks, I have a 01 CC and it doesn't have one either. Thought about putting one on mine but then I wouldn't be able to hear my K&N kick in or worse it might suck it off the hood he he he :) :)

DC deleated the underhood padding as a running change. They also dealeated the underhood light and badging for the engine, all as a cost cutting measure.

The underhood insulation was dropped by Dodge in the 2001 modle lineup. Have your dealer check with the zone reps and they will comfirm this.

My two cents worth...Gotta 2002 Sport Plus. It has no underhood insulation. No underhood light. No V8 Magnum badgeing. Got 750 miles on it and this is such a great truck. No buyers remorse here. It even sounds cool. I say leave off the insulation and enjoy the roar...relative to the strangled sound of so many regulated engines.

I actually think the Dak looks better w/o the badge on the corners. It just looks slick and clean. Engine bay insulation just blocks out wholesome goodness (aka: tone)
