Message: I have a 99 dakota with a front shock that is leaking oil already. What is a good set of replacement shocks for these trucks that improve a bit over the stock shocks??(but don't stiffen the ride too much) I was looking at Rancho RS 5000's and Monroe Reflex........

Message: If you want OEM improvement shocks, and arent looking for the stiffer "offroad" shock, I'd recommend the Edelbrock IAS shocks, the Monroe Reflex, or the Rancho shocks that compete with the Edelbrocks, I cant remember their model name.
Above all, the Edelbrocks work great I hear!

Message: Groove - generally there aren't any special tools needed - however it makes it easier to get the top nut off if you have the socket to hold the top of the shock.

Message: Yeah, 8 years is pretty good unless it's rarely driven. My '02 shocks were way gone when I replaced them last spring. I went with Bilstein HD monotubes. Great shock that I'd recommend. I don't remember it being to difficult (no stuck bolts or anything). Good luck!
