Subject: Brake Caliber bolt striped IP: Logged
Message: when puting new brake pads on my dakota, the caliber bolt did not line up properly and the bolt went in cross treaded. Now I am not sure if it is just the bolt or the stearing knuckle that is striped out. Has anyone else had this happen? I hope it is not the steering knucking as that would cost a few bucks to replace. I am looking at bring the truck to a machine shop to see if they can repair the treads or weld and tap a new tread.

Message: Got it fixed. I brought my truck to a machine shop and they put a heater coil into the treads. Basicly they drilled the steering knuckle and put a pug into it with new treads. Cost me about $65 cdn including a new caliber bolt.
