Subject: Tired or "Fan Roar" IP: Logged
Message: I am getting frustrated with the roaring sound my engine cooling clutch fan makes on my 4.7 almost every time I start off. Does anybody know if a clutch fan off any other model (or make) will fit? (that doesnt ROAR) I dont really want to go with an electric fan conversion.
Thanks in advance.

Message: Mine roars for about the same amount of time. (about 95% of the time). Its always worse at the first start-up of the day. It roars until I get into third gear and then it "releases". I just hate the sound of it. Any solutions??

Message: I think it sounds rather cool. Its not like its doin it every time you press the gas....that could get old real quick. What causes that to do that anyways?

Message: The cause of the fan running in the A.M. or after the truck has set for an extended period of time is that the silicone in the clutch assy.has pooled at the bottom of the clutch housing causing friction letting it run. After a few minutes the silicone is spread out and it then operates normally. As far as replacing the clutch fan with an electric from year 2000 up we have both a clutch and electric fan.

Message: Stew, Relax bud. The fan clutch is just doing its job. When you stop hearing it, then its time to worry. Until then, just turn up the radio ok?
