Subject: 2000 Dakota - Does PCM always have power
IP: Logged

Message:
Hello,
I have a parasitic drain.

Is the PCM in the engine compartment supposed
to always have power?
key off, doors closed.

Removing all fuses from the cab (except
airbags), then all fuses in engine compartment,
I've narrowed down the fuse in the engine
compartment to the 20 amp PCM fuse and/or the
engine compartment wiring harness.
If I take off the PCM connector 1 - (black one
on my Dakota) and reconnect everything the
parasitic drain is gone.

If I pull the engine harness that goes to all
the engine wiring from the engine bay fuse
panel, parasitic drain is gone.
TIA
Nick
