I know what the different gen daks look like but how do I tell the difference between something like a 93 and 94 dakota? or a 97 and a 99?

The dakota emblem on a 97 slt is a raised reflector badge. on the 99 it is a flat sticker. You can also look at the wheels. (If they are stock.)
