Subject: Fuel System or Computer? IP: Logged
Message: I have an 93 Dakota 4WD, 5.2L auto. Last week it would not start. The battery is strong, it just cranks. I have spark at the plugs. After several attempts I gave up, to read Chiltons. Tried later in the day and it started right up, and ran great. It was fine for a couple of days and yesterday the same thing happened. Tried about 15 times to start and got nothing. Later it fired up and ran great. Any Ideas?

Message: Could be several things but check in your distributor for shaft play. The early 5.2's had bad dist. shaft bushings (in the block). Or it could be the pickup in the distributor. Check for codes and see if there are any first.

Message: Could be your fuel pump. My 92 lost its fuel pump @ 160,000 miles. It would crank n crank and never fire.
