Message: Hey guys, I decided this weekend to have a remote starter installed...well I dunno what happened but for some reason they could not get it to work. All kinds of weird stuff.
Question is has anyone else installed a remote starter? If so what brand? Did you have any probs getting it wired up? (they seemed to be stumbling with the factory alarm)
I ended up having it removed and the place I took it to would not refund me... *sigh*

Message: I can't help you but I have heard that remote starters won't work with the factory remote access or alarm. You may have to disable them if you want to use a remote starter.

Message: I have remote start that came with my Viper 550 ESP alarm system... and it works just fine.
There didn't appear to be any problems having it installed... BTW, are you sure that they are connecting the right wires to start the truck? I remember hearing that there were 2 (maybe more) wires that needed power in order to get it started. (but I don't remember which ones, since I am not a installer)

Message: You are probably entitled to your money back (if you care). I would go back to that store and just tell them they're giving me my money back. If they say no, contact the Better Business Bureau. I sent them an email once when Midas screwed up my exhaust and refused to fix it after I took it back 3 times -- needless to say, they called me about a week later offering to either refund my money or order in all new exhaust.

Message: What year is your truck and what engine. My freind tried to put his remote starter in himself (2001 4.7) He did pretty good. The truck starts once and a while and he has no power locks anymore. Any way the moral of this story is they are a pain in the a$$ to put in. Thats why I am waiting till they get all the bugs out. Then I will have them put in.

Message: Mine is a 2000. After a few calls this morning it seems the one they did put in is not compatible with Dodge. And of course one that is, is going to cost twice as much. Problem is I am out what I paid for this one in the first place.
I loved my remote start in my old car and really want to add it to the truck. But I don't want to lose any of my features that I have now. I ended up having probs when the remote starter was installed (was on over night) Alarm would go off, the truck would continuously arm itself (lock the doors over and over) even my window went down (how? I dunno! I think my Dak is possessed!) It also did not work like my last remote starter...
Time to wait and see I guess...

Message: I had an Avital alarm installed with the remote start feature in my R/T. The installers had some difficulties because the newer Daks have a chip-embedded key - you can't start it without the chip key. I now have a cut-up key buried in with the alarm to allow the remote starting function to work. Since the install I've had no problems except an occasional missed start when it's cold.
