 Subject: Speedometer/Odometer not working

2002 Dakota 3.9- I’ve changed both sensors the ABS in the
differential and the VSS in the trans and did what I thought
was a PCM reset (touch positive to negative and turn on key
switch) even unhooked power from engine fuse box when
doing this. Only light is a check engine with P0500, no ABS
light or brake light. Gauge cluster check has a 950 code(not
sure on that) saw something that talks about CAB fuse? All
other gauges work and thankfully not having any shifting
issues. First truck for my 16 year old and not comfortable with
him driving without a speedo unlike myself. One person
suggested “flashing the ECU”?
