Message: There is no recommended exact shift speeds and
it might depend slightly on what differential
ratio you have. However, for general driving,
with a four cylinder and a 5 speed you could
probably start by shifting at approximately 10
mph intervals for each gear. 1st to second at
10 mph, 2nd to 3rd at 20 mph and so on. If it
feels under powered or you feel the engine
buck, jerk or ping after shifting, try
adjusting the shift point for that gear up by 5
mph. You will get the feel for it after a
while by the sound of the engine and general
driving feel. Good luck and enjoy your Dakota.
