 Subject: Dodge Dakota issues

While driving, truck suddenly over heated and popped of cap.
Then lost compression/ power and heater would only blow
cool air. Any ideas as to what the issue could be as well as
what caused it? Thank you for you time.

On my "01 it is in the air plenum under the glove box. 2
screws to remove it, IIRC.
