Subject: AC clicking under hood IP: Logged
Message: 2003 Durango 4.7L
The AC compressor/clutch began clicking a couple of months ago. Speeds up and down with engine RPM. AC has blown cold all along. Clicking is gone now as well as the cold air. Clutch in engaged and spinning (checked relay and clutch stops spinning when I pull relay and starts spinning when I plug relay back in). The clicking was coming from the compressor/clutch and i assume the clutch has gona bad but before I commit to replacing the clutch or compressor, I wanted to see if anyone has any ideas I can try to verify its only a clutch first.

Message: The compressor clutch will cycle on/off as
controlled by the PCM.
Usually a bad clutch will either slip or not engage.
I don't think you have a problem.

Message: I see replacement clutches on Ebay and some parts houses, should I go that route or just spent the extra and replace the whole compressor? Looking for opinions from Techs if possible.
