Vehicle: 2001 Dodge Dakota

Problem: Single low beam headlight flickering randomly (no flickering on high beam)

Conclusion: After some diagnostic testing I am 99% convinced problem is in the central timer module(CTM)

Aggravating Factor: Replacement CTM not readily available at a reasonable price locally

Question: Can I wire around the central timer module (CTM) without creating major problems? The plan would be to splice into the low beam wire coming into the CTM from the dimmer switch and connecting it to the low beam wire going to the affected headlight that comes out of the CTM.

Short answer, no. The CTM is the feed for the
headlights.

The headlight and the dimmer switches only provide
inputs to the CTM. They can not handle the current
from the headlight itself.

Appreciate you getting back with an answer. Helped me avoid making a costly mistake. Thanks.... The part # on my CTM is P56045452AJ. I have since located CTM's with part #'s P56045452AK, P56045452AF and P56045451AJ. Can any of these be used? Would one be preferrable over the others? My Dakota does not have keyless entry.......

The last two letters are the revision so anything AJ
or later should fit.

To look the part up with Dodge drop the P.

56045452AJ

The CTM can do remote locks - do you not have power
locks?

Hi my alarm / door lock remote stopped working. After
unsuccessfully trying to fix - batteries etc - i took to the
dealer and they said I need a new BCM. The part
number they gave me was P56045452AL.

I searched online and found it cheaper than them BUT
one of the people told me I needed to match what was
on the label on the current BCM. when I did that the
part number had P56045452AJ.

which should I buy? will the AL even work?
