All: I have a 2002 Dakota 4x4 with 167K miles. Two years ago I tore the outer CV joint boot on the passenger front. Now I'm hearing some growling which sounds like its from the front end. I had the bearing hubs replaced at 125K miles so I dont think its them, most likely the CV Joint. My question is if the CV Joint fails and seperates will I still be able to drive the vehicle? I understand 4x4 will be inoperable but can I drive it? Thx>>AJ

For sure! i would take front axles out to isolate the noise
