I have a 93 Dakota that will not start. It won't even crank over. I replaced the battery, still nothing. So I figure it is either my starter or the solinoid. I can't find the Solinoid anywhere. Can someone please help me? Where is that pesky Solinoid.

Do your headlights work? if so I'd say starter, if they are dim i would check the negative wire to the block, could be loose or corroded

If all you hear is a single click then it is proabably the contacts in the starter. They are replaceable with a little mecanical knowalge. If you do not hear any click at all check the fuses in the dash and under the hood the could be one burnt and not sending power to the solenoid on the starter. Have seen bad battery cables on vehicles of that age as well.

Thanks Guys. I will check the starter. I do hear a single click comming from the area of the starter, but it won't turn. my lights are bright.
Can I buy just a brush kit for the starter, or do I have to by the whole starter?

You need a starter contact set not a brush kit. If you can find some one to supply you with the set all you have to do is remove the starter and you will see the solinoid on the top side of the starter remove the three screws holding the cover on and there will be a piston with a spring pull it out and you will see the contacts right there replace them and you will be on your way. I do this all the time for customers and I charge aout a hour and a half depending on vehicle.
