Message: I am just asking if getting an average 13 mpg for a
3.7L Dakota is normal. I do have a 4 door quad cab
4x4 Dakota. If not, what can I do to get better gas
mileage? Thanks, Greg

Message: That's a lot of truck for the V6. A good tune, proper tire inflation
and alignment and good driving habits are about all you can
do. I've got an 00 3,9, QC w/ 5spd, 4x2 and average around
19 with a best of 24mpg hwy. But mine is stripped down,
manual windows, locks. The more accessories you have the
more weight you've got to haul around.

Message: Thanks for your reply. I have owned the truck for
about a year now and I try to have good driving
habits because of the poor gas mileage I get. I
accelerate slowly and try to anticipate stopping
ahead of time by leaving off of the gas pedal
sooner to coast to a stop. So I guess I should look
into the mechanical items you mentioned.
Thanks again.
