Message: i have a 1989 dodge dakota sport. its a 4x4 manual
with a 3.9. i have been looking for the location of
the fuel pressure regulator. and what pressure i am
supposed to have, no luck. the main problem that
leads me to the fuel system problem is that the
truck will run fine then just die. like someone
turned off the key. i did a pressure test on the
fuel line after the filter and it was only 16 psi.
any help would be appreciated.

Message: I don't know about the fuel press.reg but have you checked the
wiring leaving the underhood fusebox? There is a splice there
with 3 wires to one, red/ red white wires. This splice corrodes
sometimes causing the symptoms you describe. That splice
powers the fuel pump, PCM and ignition.

Message: Fuel pressure regulator is on the back of the TBI
unit. Proper pressure after the regulator should be
around 14.5PSI (much more than that, and it'll start
not fueling due to so much pressure the solenoids
inside the injectors can't pull the valves open!)
