Hi: Can someone let me know where I can get info to de-code a VIN number? I believe the first 11 characters tell such things as year, truck line, engine type/displacement, where it was made, etc. Or can someone decode the following VIN? I especially want to know what the "P" stands for (1996 engine). Thanks.

I have aquired a '99 Dakota owned by an elderly man as his twin brother was the General Manager at a Dodge dealership and all he knew was he liked it. He had it customized to match his tastes but I would like to know what the VIN has to say about the options and packages it origionally came with. Thank you very much for the help you can give me. I would be proud to send pictures upon request because this truck is a sight to behold especially if you are a WSU fan as this was the basis of the customizing.
