Subject: 1997 Dodge Dakota Idle Issue

OK,

Got a weird issue going on and not to sure what to think. I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota Club Cab. When I start the truck, sometimes it starts right up and runs fine. However, other days it stalls out right away. When this happens, if I keep my foot on the gas and let it off VERY slowly, it will catch at about 600-700 RPMs and won't stall out. However, if I take my foot off to quickly, it will continue to stall out. This started a few years back and stopped for a short period of time when I put a new battery in the truck.

I have cleaned out the throttle body. Also, I have an amp that powers two 10" sub woofers. I honestly believe that this might be an electrical issue/battery issue. None of the lights on the dash work anymore (even though most pop on right away when I start the truck, but don't stay on). Also, the left turn signal flashes extremely quickly (like a bulb is out, but both bulbs are good) but the right side works fine. So, I know I have an electrical issue going on just by those symptoms.

I am writing on here to see if anyone has had a problem like this. Most mechanics I ask, look lost..... including my father who was in the business over thirty years. Could the amp be leaking power from the battery?? The lights also dim when the car stalls out. Could this be another electrical issue, or other issue all together??

Please help as I finally want to get this figured out!!

Phil
