Subject: Power steering woes IP: Logged
Message: So... As I was driving home the other day on the
highway I noticed a vibration in my front end. It
progressively got worse forcing me to pull over. I
then noticed that the lugs on one of my front
wheels had loosened (not blaming a oil shop
rotation but hey) I torqued the lugs and continued
on. vibration gone. I then noticed that the power
steering was getting tight. After driving a
distance the wheel becomes tight to rotate. after
rotating and returning it will return to the
previous spot with ease then stiff to go further.
I got to my destination and checked over the
system, no leaks. But when I took off the power
steering cap it popped a little like there was
pressure in the reservoir. sooooo, is this a sign
of a bad pump? Rack issues? Or is the intermediate
shaft bad after only 3 years? the joints do look
rusty... Thoughts?
