I modified the rear seat in my '00 Quad Cab. Unbolt the seat,
lift it up and you'll see the tabs on the back of the seatback
that hold it up. If you cut about 1/2 to 3/4 inches off of that tab
it will allow you to fold the seat back down when it's bolted
back down. I did mine on the drivers side to allow access to
my amp. It's really easy to do.

Yes unbolt it like you are going to remove it. Lift up the back of
the seat then the back will fold forward. You'll see the metal
brackets o. The back of the seat that need to be cut. Those
brackets/ tabs slide into loops on the wall of the cab to keep
the seatback from folding down. After you trim those tabs you
will be able to lift the seat bottom about half way up then fold
the seatback forward for access behind the seat. I don't know
why the factory did not do this in the first place
